We are all unique and complex individuals. Sometimes we may find ourselves trapped by negative thinking patterns, unresolved family and relational issues, as well as the complexities of navigating our own self-identity. We will work together on collaborative goals to help you regain your innate strength to inhabit life to the fullest.
I use an eclectic approach which consists of the following modalities:
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) CBT reveals the relationship between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and the behaviors that follow. Through CBT, people learn that their perceptions directly influence how they respond to specific situations. In other words, a person’s thought process informs their behaviors and actions.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction: In mindfulness meditation, individuals strive to cultivate a greater awareness of the present moment. By increasing their mindfulness, participants in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction aim to reduce their overall arousal and emotional reactivity and to gain a deeper sense of calm.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is said to benefit individuals dealing with the following health conditions or problems: ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Anger
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT): Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is an action-oriented approach to psychotherapy that stems from traditional behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Clients learn to stop avoiding, denying, and struggling with their inner emotions and, instead, accept that these deeper feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations that should not prevent them from moving forward in their lives. With this understanding, clients begin to accept their issues and hardships and commit to making necessary changes in their behavior, regardless of what is going on in their lives, and how they feel about it.
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) Integrative psychotherapy approach designed to treat symptoms of trauma and PTSD. EMDR sessions follow a specific sequence of phases, using bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, to help the client process unresolved memories from adverse experiences. EMDR can be used to address any number of concerns, and it is compatible with other types of therapy.
Ego States:
Ego state therapy was developed to help people to understand themselves on a deep level, in order to reduce internal conflict among their parts and establish inner harmony.
